Curse the weather
I decided to put a fresh top sheet of manila on the cylinder. I stripped off all
the existing packing and left the cylinder exposed. It was cold at the time but
then a few days of warmer, moist air came by and quick as a wink the cylinder
put on a light coating of rust. This can be disastrous. I have to clean it off
without wrecking the machined surface which is so crucial for an even
impression.
