Getting the de luxe edition back from the binders (in this case The Fine Bindery) is always a pleasurable moment. Finally everything has come together. The de luxe copies of our previous two books on aspects of the history of Oxford University Press contained portfolios of additional material, but in this case there was a second volume. Even then at the last minute we had the opportunity of getting proofs of one of the type borders that Carter designed for Curwen Press. Some of that type still exists and Ian Mortimer at I M Imprimit printed up fifty proofs for us which, together with samples of the Bible type, were dropped into a wallet at the back of the second volume. |
