Having released the impression lever, David has pushed the platen away from him and opened the frisket, just like any ordinary hand-press, to reveal the printed sheet. You can see the two blocks on the bed of the press.

As ever with such things, once a certain rhythm is established progress can be quite brisk and 200 copies were ready in a few hours.
