All the elements are now coming together, and when the hand-blocked paper arrives from Signor Valese in early January there's a wonderful moment when the parcel is opened to reveal the two papers we had discussed: eighty sheets of each.

The brick-red paper uses a part of the design of the front of Ca' d'Oro, one of the palaces on the Grand Canal, and will be used to bind the book; the grey pattern is for the solander box which will hold the watercolours. The slipcase and other 'trimmings' will use a soft yellow cloth.
