Paul Kershaw's engraving was printed from two blocks, printed separately. The block for the background contains a mass of delicate detail that renders as shades of grey, a distant landscape beneath lowering clouds; that for the foreground is in stark black and white, a hill-top caught in a sudden flash of sunlight.
