Printing begins

The way the book is made up - a series of A3 landscape sheets, folded to A4 portrait and pasted together to form a zig-zag - I shall be printing one poem on each sheet and then its title.

The ink colour doesn't come across here, but it is a sage green. I have slid a sheet under the grippers on the cylinder and down to the lay gauge (bottom left), ready to roll over the rather lonely block of type sitting on the bed of the press (centre right). I have set up the forme etc so that the landscape sheet rolls around the cylinder - the paper is rather stiff (225gsm). It is also quite a thick 'puffy' paper so it makes a nice opportunity to give a firm impression and leave that three-dimensional mark on the paper.
