THE OLD SCHOOL PRESSThis is a designer binding of The Bricks of Venice by Lester Capon. | |
|
The text volume (right) is bound in the pierced vellum style, a style that has been neglected since the 17th century, but which Lester Capon has been experimenting with. Shapes are cut from the vellum to reveal underlays of coloured goatskin. The illustrations volume has been guarded together and bound in semi-limp vellum style, the vellum drummed onto board. The interlacing vellum tapes, some of which the book is sewn onto, have been stained with leather dyes and represent a rather more literal approach to brickwork. |
